Barwood is working in collaboration with Heyford Developments to secure planning permission for up to 2,800 dwellings, a local centre and a 3 form entry first school for the proposed cross boundary allocation within the emerging Bromsgrove District Plan and Borough of Redditch Local Plan no 4. The site extends to 136.03Ha (336.1 acres) and is located on the western edge of Redditch, approximately 3km west of the town centre. Most of the site lies within the administrative boundary of Bromsgrove District, with approximately 1.3Ha of land located within Redditch Borough.
The proposals provide 75.80ha of residential development (of which up to 40% will be affordable housing) where the average density will equate to 37 dwellings per hectare. Overall 53.23ha of public open space will be provided to include informal and formal open space, drainage, existing and proposed structural planting, drainage and play areas. The development will also provide a three form entry first school located on a 2.8ha site and a mixed use local centre of 0.62ha to include retail, heath, community and residential uses.
A hybrid planning application was submitted in March 2016 to coincide with the reconvened Examination in Public for the Bromsgrove District Plan and Borough of Redditch Local Plan no 4 and determination of the application is anticipated to coincide with the formal adoption of the Plans towards the end of the year/early 2017.
