How do we collect information?

Barwood Land collects personal information direct from Clients, Contractors, Suppliers and Business Contacts upon enquiry about services and throughout our engagement.

The method of collecting information will depend on the nature of the enquiry and the route that the query has taken. Should a third party have been used, for example a land agent, their terms and conditions would apply.

We may collect information through your use of the Barwood Land website

We may also collect information about Clients, Contractors, Suppliers and Business Contacts from public sources, such as Companies House, from an online search or from social media sites.

In most cases your personal data will be provided first hand during our correspondence.

What information is collected and how is it used?

Personal data, or personal information, means any information about an individual from which that person can be identified.

Barwood Land will collect different information depending on your relationship with us and the type of engagement.

Personal information provided by Clients, contractors or suppliers themselves during the course of the business including name, business name (where applicable) address, telephone numbers and email addresses.

Bank details supplied should Barwood Land be required to make payments suppliers or contractors for goods or services.

We process personal information contained in documents reviewed by us as part of any due diligence and provided to us in disclosure.

Personal information about Clients provided by other professional advisors in the course of an engagement, for example legal settlements.

Internet protocol (IP) address, browser type and version, time zone setting and location, browser plug-in types and versions, operating system and platform and other technology on the devices you use to access this website.

Sensitive Data

Barwood Land does not gather sensitive personal data (e.g., health, genetic, biometric data; racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious or philosophical beliefs, trade union membership, sexual orientation, and criminal convictions) within day-to-day business.

Children’s Information

Barwood Land’s services are not directed to children under the age of 13.

Our lawful basis for using personal information

We will only use your personal information when the law allows us to. Most commonly, we will use your personal information in the following circumstances:

  • Where we need to perform the contract, we have entered into with you.
  • Where it is necessary for our legitimate interests (or those of a third party) and your interests and fundamental rights do not override those interests.

Requests for copies of information held

Upon request, Barwood Land will provide a statement regarding the personal data held in relation to an individual or company. Any requests should be made in writing addressed to the Barwood Land offices.

Updating or correcting information held

The accuracy of personal information held is important to Barwood Land. Please keep us informed if your personal information changes during the course of our engagement with you.

Deleting personal data

You have the right to request erasure of personal information. Unless there is a compelling reason for the data not to be erased (for example, Barwood Land maybe required to keep personal data to fulfil contractual or legal obligations. An example could be that data would be kept for compliance of Anti-money laundering regulations), personal data will be deleted upon request.

Challenging Legitimate Interests

Under certain circumstances, you have the right to object to the processing of your personal information where we are relying on a legitimate interest (or those of a third party) and there is something about your particular situation which makes you want to object to processing on this ground.

Should any client or supplier wish to make a complaint regarding personal information held, in the first instance your complaint should be directed to the Barwood Land offices.

Should the response not be satisfactory, or if there are suspicions that Barwood Land is not processing a client’s information in accordance with the law, complaints are to be made to the Information Commissioners’ Office (ICO).

Cookies

Cookies used on this website

_utma, _utmb, _utmc and _utmz – used for our Google Analytics for us to measure how visitors use our site, all information is completely anonymous and we cannot track who the user is. _utmc is a temporary cookie and is deleted once your browser is shut.

PHPSESSID – a temporary cookie used by the content management system to manage browser sessions and is deleted once your browser is shut.

External websites

The Barwood Land website includes both internal and external web links. We select links that we feel are relevant to the content that they are linking from or are useful for our visitors.

Barwood Land is not responsible for the content on external websites that are linked to / from our site. We do not link to external sites in return for cash, services or any other payment in kind – links are selected purely based on the relevance of their content for our audience.
